Dyslexia
Impairment of the ability to read. A dyslexic student generally has difficulty decoding symbols or letters for reading. Letters may also be transposed or out of the correct order or appear to move around on the page. Reading comprehension may also be impacted. 

Kinesthetic Learner
Learner whose optimum learning takes place through taking information in through the senses. 

Learning Difference/Disability
Any of several conditions, believed to involve the nervous system, which interfere with mastering a skill such as reading. 

Struggling Student
A student performing below grade level requirements or not at the optimum level for their ability in a class or classes. 

Visual Learner
Learner whose optimum learning takes place through information that is taken in through sight.

​Attention Deficit Disorder-ADD, ADHD
A childhood syndrome characterized by impulsiveness and short attention span; and sometimes by hyperactivity that often leads to learning disabilities and various behavioral problems. Focusing issues generally impact academic learning and classroom behavior or performance.

Auditory  Learner
Learner whose optimum learning takes place by taking in information through hearing. They typically learn best through lectures and audio tapes. 

Dyscalculia
Lack of ability to perform mathematical functions because of difficulty to understand numbers and mathematical procedures. 

Dysgraphia
Extremely poor handwriting or the inability to perform the motor movement required for handwriting. The brain has difficulty transferring writing signals to the hand. The hand generally does not write what the brain tells it to.
